Miss Tracy Fasick
Teaching, learning, and literacy are my passions! I have been an educator for 23 years, but I consider myself a teacher first. I am currently the Coordinator for Professional Learning in the School District of Lancaster. I love my position and especially find working with new teachers through the New Teacher Induction Program particularly rewarding. Before working for the School District of Lancaster, I worked for IU 13 as a Literacy Consultant in the Curriculum and Instruction Department and spent over 16 years in the classroom teaching first, second, or third grades. I whole-heartedly believe that you learn each and every day no matter how “seasoned” you may be!
There are two people that have influenced my own professional learning. The first is Dr. Brenda Hanthorn, who was a supervisor of mine while at IU 13. Dr. Hanthorn encouraged me to hold myself to high standards and to never stop growing and learning. The other person who has influenced my professional learning is Dr. Judy Dodson. I learned a great deal about actively engaging students while focusing on the Essential Elements of Reading from her workshops and her book: 50 Nifty Activities for 5 Components and 3 Tiers of Reading Instruction.
